DaveStaats.ning???

I can barely stop to write this one because it seems every 5 minutes something else gets hotter. This is not a complaint about what’s going on but I think the question alone will generate some interesting comments. It feels like RIGHT NOW would be a good time to make these profiles portable. Especially on Ning. Whaddaya think?

Dave Staats places top executives as well as implementation consultants with software companies. He also has made more placements in Artificial Intelligence than any other headhunter. His career began during the SDI (Star Wars) years and included placement of scientists in laser, stealth, and other high-tech fields. During a short hiatus from the recruiting industry in 1994 he obtained a Private Investigator's license which he keeps as a constant reminder that a headhunter is what he really is. Dave is on the Board of Directors of The Pinnacle Society and a founder of The Tennessee Recruiters Association. He has a BA from Western Illinois University. Dave also blogs at Truth, Justice & the American Way of Headhunting

  1. Too much filling of same stuff on forms. I have slightly varied profiles on My website,Pinnacle site,RecruitingBlogs,Fordyce Network and others not coming to mind right now. It’s like having a dozen phone numbers all at one place.

  2. I think that this is where it’s all going right now. There are thousands of social networks popping up about every topic imaginable, and people clearly want to participate in more then just one, and want to do so easily.

The only question is will the underlying technology ghetto-ize the networks (like Instant Messenger) or will they all plat nicely together (like email)? This is a point of serious contention and jockeying for positions between the major players (Google, MySpace, Facebook, Microsoft, Ning), and how the rest of us ultimately use these networks will be determined by the choices they make.

  3. Right….so we’ll eventually get something with a utility somewhere between that of Google and a .net passport 🙂

How about a ‘default profile’ that attaches us based on our responses to the various entities/nets/boards instead of the other way around?

  4. Great idea Dave. Must admit Im tired of filling out questions but the challenge is that on social networks such as ning the “owner” of the social network can ask about any question they like relevent to the interest area of the site….

  5. I am pulled here for one am tired of social networks influencing formal business networks especially when theory and not actual practice but if you do not participate you lose out on the experiences taken shape and I really like the authentic original thought.

When did recruiting become training how 2 and marketing of? I know it sounds like I am bashing, I am not it is a real question.

I thought it was the metric of number of interview, offers 2 starts. Guess today it is traffic to a blog or social network these days makes me think of the IBM video on social networking.

2005-2010 The rise of the writer and researcher. ~ Why not after all, all the others that make up data processing space have had time in the sun.

Interesting Videos for this thread and the topic of standards for open social standards which google has a great video archive on

  6. Social Networks being “informal networks” typically not accountable for results just data and business networks being “formal networks” who are accountable for the results.
