ERE Acquires SourceCon

ere_sc_heart3I’m proud to announce that ERE Media has acquired SourceCon, the only live, in-person event for sourcing professionals in the world.

SourceCon is unique. It brings together the best minds in the sourcing profession to focus on minute intricacies of the art like no other event in existence.

I was at the first SourceCon, and remember being impressed by the vibe. There was an excitement in the air of a community coming together face-to-face for the first time. Several people came up to me unsolicited and told me how amazing it felt to finally be in a place where there were other sourcers “just like me.”

Since the current recession began, there has been talk of the death of sourcing. I disagree, and now ERE is putting its money where its mouth is.

So what does this mean?

For sourcers, this means that SourceCon is back, plain and simple! I and the ERE team respect the grassroots nature of the Sourcing community, and as we grow the event, we will do it in a way that respects the distinct (and quirky) ethos of the community.

For Leslie, SourceCon’s Founder, this is the result of years of her hard work building SourceCon into an amazing event. I and the ERE team will do our best to run the event as she has done, and hope to have her continued involvement for a long, long time.

As for us, SourceCon represents what ERE is all about — extending deeper into the talent acquisition community with another event that helps us to educate the profession.

We’ll be announcing the dates for the next SourceCon shortly, but if you can’t wait for your SourceCon goodness, check out The Source newsletter!

ERE Media, Inc. CEO David Manaster continues to learn about recruiting every day. His first job in the profession was way back in 1997, and he founded ERE Media the following year. Today, David spends his time thinking up new ways that ERE can serve the recruiting community. You can follow David on Twitter or email him at david(at)

  1. It’s great to know that SourceCon is alive and well and will live on under ERE’s direction. Kudos to Leslie for identifying the “missing piece” in the recruiting community and building SourceCon into what it is today.

  2. Congratualtions to Leslie and her SourceCon team! This is very exciting news for the sourcing community and the acquisition can only mean more good things to come.

  3. I recommend you tack a day onto either side of an existing ERE conference for it. That way, maybe the recruiting leadership who needs to better appreciate what sourcing does can physically see/hear some best practices discussed first-hand / meet leading sourcing industry players, since (unfortunately) it often registers more forcefully when someone hears it from an outside respected voice rather than an internal one.

  4. This is GREAT news! Congratulations… think about NEW ORLEANS as a possible next meeting destination and combine a “speciality” pre conference sign up for source con either before or after ERE … simliar to what SHRM does. I think they would have metrics on whether it pays off or not to help you decide. Best to you!

  5. A great win for our profession. Congrats to Leslie & Co for building a great platform and community. A great opportunity for ERE to continue to build the sourcing + competitive intelligence community.

I am looking forward to SouceCon 3 (wherever it is).

  6. Wonderful news .. major congrats to Leslie and ERE .. glad to know that “the” sourcing conference has secured strong backing .. and though I love Atlanta, moving the conf around to track ERE makes a lot of sense ..
