HR Panel Fun

Our meeting yesterday was very interesting. We had a panel of local VPs and Directors of HR answering questions.  Something that surprised some members but had others nodding their heads was that all three agreed on these points…We have never paid up front money…maybe the executive committee does but we don’t really know…Any fee paid is a failure for me…We really hate the idea of you directly recruiting…unless you are doing it for us….We often have more than one firm working on a search…

This is one of many reasons we concentrate on only sourcing/searching if we at least have an engagement fee. I could not resist asking while they were discussing the last point… “How many times have you called 2 plumbers to fix your drain and told them you’d pay the one who got it done first?”  So it has been and so it shall be… I thank that group of guys in the 60s and 70s who got this ball rolling every single day.

Dave Staats places top executives as well as implementation consultants with software companies. He also has made more placements in Artificial Intelligence than any other headhunter. His career began during the SDI (Star Wars) years and included placement of scientists in laser, stealth, and other high-tech fields.
